I guess once more it is time for a little update. Not much has changed on the health front since the last report except that I continue to feel better and like I had told you I would consider myself totally normal when I play a round of golf. Yesterday I did. Just nine holes but it was a good start. My score was not great but I could not have wished for a better day to play. It was perfect weather, a nice change from the screeching heat we have been experiencing this summer in Cincinnati. Golf is such a meditative activity.
I am starting this Monday another cycle of treatment and if all goes well I will get a scan in 3 weeks. My white count and platelets have been low so Randy reduced the dosage a little bit more which is probably why I am not feeling the side effects as much as before. The clinic visits have been totally automated. Randy was on vacation for 2 weeks during which I saw 2 other doctors. When he came back the first thing he asked me was if I had read the news regarding Avastin (the second drug I was supposed to get but the insurance was denying). He informed me that new research is showing that it is not as effective as it originally thought and that the FDA is considering reascending it as treatment for breast cancer. He was hoping to put my mind to ease. He did because I was always wondering if it would have made a difference. Frankly I would rather not get a drug if not necessary or reasonably effective. As a matter of fact I don't even take supplements anymore either. I decided that there is nothing my body needs that it cannot get from natural food and am focusing more on quality of nutrition much of it by reverting to my childhood meals. I have also become addicted to the food channel. I get a kick out of cooking and it is certainly a lot more pleasant and aromatic than swallowing a bunch of pills. So as you see it looks like things are stable and I am very grateful for that. Otherwise I have been very busy with the wedding plans but most of all the construction on our house which finally began about 7 weeks ago. On the same day I got the good news about my scan, I received a call from the building department telling us the permit was ready. It was like the heavens have suddenly opened and all our prayers were answered. This project is turning out to be a full time job but I am more than happy to do it. I love being on building sites and totally feel in my element when I am around construction so having one in my own backyard is very convenient fix. I started another blog to document that adventure so if you want to see the progress please feel free to visit http://adventures-in-remodeling.blogspot.com/
So this is it for now. I will keep you posted with any worthwhile news
much love
